Why Our Beef Excels

The meats excel at LaLonde's Market

Consistent performance is no accident. We take many steps to assure your meal is better on the table.

We require our suppliers to provide us with Cargill EXCEL beef. We do not buy on price, we buy on quality. This assures you that everytime you buy a cut of beef, you can expect the same consistent superior flavor, texture and taste you’ve always known from LaLonde’s.

  • The Excel brand dates back to 1936 and they pride themselves on Humane Handling. Cattle are raised under the human handling set by the standards of the American Meat Institute and the Humane Slaughter Act for humane animal treatment.
  • Stress in cattle causes inferior end meat cuts. Cargill works to minimize cattle stress through both raising processes and facility design.
  • Cargill developed the technology to effectively clean beef, reducing pathogens. As well as using VerifEYE, which visualizes and removes trace contaminated beef before it can leave the processing facility.
  • The beef is digitally graded on more than 20 different attributes to maintain the consistency you expect.

Why Our Grinds Are Better

The meats excel at LaLonde's Market

We know exactly what is in our burgers…just meat. We make our grinds fresh every day, from nothing but hand trimmed whole primal chucks, rounds and sirloins. There is no filler, no additives, no miscellaneous parts and no “pink slime”. Just meat and the small amount of fat after hand trimming that goes along with it. This means our meat cooks better, tastes better and is better for you!

95% meat, 5% fat
The leanest of the grinds. Best used for soups, stews, chilis, and sauces

90% meat, 10% fat
The middle grind. Best used for leaner burgers and meatloaf

85% meat, 15% fat
The richest grind. Best used for juicy burgers and meatballs

Because our meat is hand cut, trimmed and ground in house everyday, percentages are approximate but fall within the acceptable ranges established by the FDA and State Agriculture Departments.

Better feed. Better taste. It's what differentiates us from every other brand. Gerber's Amish Farm Chicken tastes better because our family has taken the time to perfect our feeding formula and the way we raise our chickens. We've worked with our feed suppliers, nutritionists, animal welfare consultants, farmers, and caretakers for nearly six decades to develop a nutritious diet and a safe, healthy living environment for our chickens. We are proving that a well–nourished, contented chicken means a better–tasting chicken.

There's nothing unnatural about the way we raise or feed our chickens. We raise our chickens on an all–vegetable diet with no additives or antibiotics. Farm–fresh goodness is all you taste; the taste that will keep you coming back for more.

Better feed, better taste. It really is that simple. And of course, behind the “that simple” is a lot of hard work on our part; hard work that we are willing to do in the care and feeding of our chickens. Try Gerber's Amish Farm Chicken. You will want to join the hundreds of others who have written us declaring that the quality and taste of our chicken is clearly unmatched by any other.
